About The Event:

By Christian Hope, we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our ultimate and complete happiness (ccc 1817). But before we get to heaven, there are a number of things we can – and should – do to plan for the end of life on this earth.

Planning ahead will give both you and your family peace of mind at a time when things can feel beyond your control.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to make good and moral decisions when faced with serious illness.
  • What the Catholic Church teaches about end-of-life care, euthanasia and assisted suicide (“MAiD”).
  • How Advance Care Planning can ensure you get the care you want, when you can no longer make decisions for yourself.
  • Types of planning, including advance care planning, enduring power of attorney, and estate planning.

You will also have an opportunity to explore practical tools and resources for planning, including:

  • Conversation starters
  • My Wishes Alberta Workbook
  • Advance care planning documents and the Alberta Green Sleeve
  • Compassionate Alberta website
