Reminder: No Skaro Pilgrimage this week

13 August 2020

For more than 100 years, pilgrims have gathered at the Skaro Shrine east of Edmonton on August 15, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. But this year the pandemic has forced the cancellation of this historic event, as it has so many others.

In his video message recorded last May, Archbishop Smith reminds us that even though we cannot participate in the pilgrimage this year, we can always turn to the Blessed Mother:

“Let’s ask for her prayers that this pandemic comes to an end; ask her to intercede for those who are ill with the virus, and for all the sick. Pray also to Our Lady for our healthcare workers who are striving very hard, at the risk of contagion, to care for the sick. Mary, Mother of the Church and Health of the Sick, pray for us.”

Please let your fellow pilgrims know about this change. We hope to see everyone back in 2021!
