The College prepares laity, religious, and ordained ministers for Christian service and leadership in Western Canada and beyond. Through the accreditation of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), NTC offers a Masters of Divinity (MDiv), Masters of Religious Education (MRE) and Masters of Theological Studies (MTS). NTC’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Catholic Studies is accredited through Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education.

The Position:  Coordinator of Student Recruitment

Newman Theological College (NTC) is currently seeking a full-time (35 hours/week) Coordinator of Student Recruitment to join our team.

Reporting directly to the NTC President, this position plans student recruitment activities and recruits prospective students for NTC, primarily undergraduate students in the B.A. in Catholic Studies and graduate students for the Master of Theological Studies programs.

Travel is often outside of the Edmonton Region, including out-of-province, in order to do presentations in schools and participate in other prospective student recruitment events.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current NTC programs and admission policies in order to transmit correct information to prospective student and parents;
  • Develop presentations designed to promote NTC programs and to attract potential students;
  • Working with the Communications Officer, assist with the implementation and maintenance of electronic recruitment initiatives (Instagram, Facebook, website, electronic newsletters, online presentations, etc.);
  • Provide frequent one-on-one and group information sessions (in-schools, fairs, scheduled sessions, etc.) for prospective students (information related to programs, scholarships, services, student life, etc.);
  • Promote the programs and educate the public about the advantages of being a student at NTC through high-school and college visits, as well as special events;
  • Conduct tours of NTC to groups or individuals;
  • Respond to e-mails from prospective students and/or parents;
  • Track prospective students and follow-up via various means of communication to yield a greater number of applications;
  • Organize and maintain a database of schools, contact persons, and events, as part of the recruitment plan;
  • Proactively and consistently communicate with NTC President and colleagues across campus;
  • Collaborate in the development of a recruitment activities report;
  • Lead the development, participation, and implementation of recruitment events logistics, such as Open House, Registration Workshops, and Counselor Workshops;
  • Develop strong relationships with high school Counselors / Teachers through letters, e-newsletters and website, counselor breakfasts, and personal visits;
  • Assist with key events related to promotion and visibility of NTC
  • Participate in all aspects of the relationship cycle; initiate contacts; refer potential prospects to the appropriate service in a timely manner;
  • Identify new markets;
  • Review pre-travel schedules and determine effectiveness.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in communications or humanities (Catholic Studies)
  • Two years of experience in a related position
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; detail oriented;
  • Excellent organizational skills, highly motivated, and organized; able to balance priorities;
  • Excellent public image, including on social media;
  • Able to engage with different audiences at an age-appropriate level, culturally aware and inclusive manner;
  • Able to travel extensively. Possess a driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract;
  • Excellent presentation skills (individually and large groups);
  • Capacity to assess and review work activities.

Compensation:

  • Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
