About The Event:
The Celebration continues
St. Albert, Alberta (May 4th, 2025) — The St. Albert Knights of Columbus and the St. Albert Parish invite community members from the Edmonton region to attend the 17th annual “Blue Sunday” mass to show their gratitude to first responders and their families.
Blue Sunday pays homage to the sacrifices of first responders employed in the public safety field including police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, emergency services personnel and our military. Blue is acknowledged as the predominant uniform colour worn by these services.
The event first began in the United States during the 1930s to recognize those who put their lives on the line for their communities. As we know recently the pressures on paramedics and emergency services grows, we take the time at this event to recognize their struggles and provide a moment of rest and support.
“This event is a chance to thank those who make our communities safer and more enjoyable places for us to live. We think it’s important now more than ever given the growing circumstances faced by our first responders and the sacrifices they and their families have endured” Liam Connelly K of C.
First responders and their families are invited to a pancake breakfast immediately following the mass. The proceeds from the breakfast will be going to Valor Place a temporary home away from home for all Canadian Forces members, Families of the Fallen, RCMPs, Veterans, and First Responders along with their families who are required to stay in Edmonton for medical treatment.
