Statement on Anti-Semitic graffiti at St. Joseph’s Basilica

The Archdiocese of Edmonton has become aware of graffiti vandalism at St. Joseph’s Basilica, including a swastika at the front entrance and another on a sign at the cathedral.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Jan. 26 and was caught on security video. The footage will be shared with the Edmonton Police Service. The graffiti will be removed as soon as possible, as professional cleaners are required.

The Archdiocese of Edmonton condemns all forms of hatred and bigotry. The swastikas are especially disturbing today Jan. 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
