On June 9-11, Archbishop Richard Smith made a pastoral visit to Grande Cache and Susa Creek
From his arrival to his departure, there was great excitement and joy in having His Grace visit with much thanksgiving and appreciation.
Archbishop Smith celebrated Mass at the Holy Cross church in Grande Cache, with its distinctive log-cabin interior, on June 9.
The following day, he celebrated Mass and visited with inmates at the Grande Cache Institution, a medium-security prison.
Archbishop Smith also visited with the Holy Cross pastoral and finance team, Catholic Women’s League and Knights of Columbus.
On June 11, Archbishop Smith celebrated Mass at Holy Cross parish and later, at Our Lady of the Rockies parish in Susa Creek.
In Susa Creek, Archbishop Smith blessed a new, handmade altar at the church. The altar was made by parishioner Robert Wanyandie. Archbishop Smith also celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation for five candidates, three from one family. Chief Dave McPhee of Aseniwuche Winewak Nation presented Archbishop Smith with a pair of moccasins, made by Vivian McDonald
