Today we want to say a big “Thank you” to our priests, deacons and religious brothers and sisters. Once COVID-19 emerged, they had to figure out how to provide pastoral care when they could not be with them in person.
How is worship affected? How do you baptize kids? Do you marry couples who don’t want to wait for the pandemic to be over?
How do you anoint the sick, especially to those dying from the virus? Do you bury faithful departed with little to no family? How do you console grieving family?
How do you comfort people who blame God for the pandemic?
Their kindness, understanding, compassion, patience and willingness to work with people, while respecting provincial guidelines, were what many of us needed in that uncertain time.
