The Covenant Foundation has launched the 2018 DreamLife Lottery campaign in support of Covenant Health hospitals in Edmonton.
This year, they continue the same prizes as last year with no prize under $10,000. Car prizes alone include a Ferrari 488 GTB, Alfa Romeos, Porsches, a Jaguar, and a selection of other vehicles. There are also four custom-designed vacations valued up to $10,500 each, a $10,500 shopping spree, and off-road terrain vehicles. Cash prizes include a 50/50, and the 12 Days of $10,000 daily wins. The bonus prize this year is a choice of two of five sports events to attend: The Masters, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup finals, a World Series game, or the NBA finals. Of course, there’s also the grand prize dream home, which is the biggest grand prize in the lottery’s history.
Worth over $2.1 million, the 6,000-square-foot home has three levels of living space – basement, main floor, and upper floor. The house is located at 5530 Chegwin Point in the budding neighbourhood of Chappelle in the Heritage Valley.
The DreamLife Lottery supports the Grey Nuns and Misericordia hospitals in Edmonton. Last year’s proceeds helped to add much needed equipment for emergency departments at both hospitals.Over the last 20 years, more than $22 million has been raised to support Covenant Health facilities.
Bernie Krewski, 65, was diagnosed with throat cancer and received jaw reconstruction surgery at the Misericordia Community Hospital after his larynx and lower half of his tongue was removed. He said that the medical care and the therapeutic and compassionate atmosphere were great factors in his recovery, “Without the excellent medical staff and support of campaigns like DreamLife, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Kreski continues, “My life now is very meaningful. Thank you to those people who gave me a voice and helped to enhance it.”
Tracy Sopkow, CEO of Covenant Foundation, said that Krewski is not alone in his experience. She says, “Thousands of patients rely on these hospitals for medical support, and we must come through for them with exceptional care. DreamLife Lottery helps us to do this.”
“When you purchase tickets to DreamLife Lottery, or when you support the foundation through any of our other mechanisms, whether it be through a donation or participating in one of our many events, you really help the foundation and you help Covenant Health provide exceptional care and service to those here in Edmonton [and beyond].” She explained that patients come in from all over Central Alberta for treatment.
To support the campaign, patrons may purchase tickets in person at the dream home, or online, by calling 780-944-2774, or at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital lobby, Misericordia Community Hospital lobby, or the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre Foundation Office (historically the Edmonton General Hospital).
