Congratulations to Rev. Mirek Kostarzewski, who was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Edmonton on May 15, 2024.
Father Mirek was ordained in Poland on June 10, 2006 for the Diocese of Sidelce. In August 2012, Archbishop Smith invited Fr. Mirek to serve the Archdiocese of Edmonton in pastoral ministry. He has served at: St. Joseph’s Basilica, Holy Trinity, Our Lady of the Foothills, Our Lady of Lourdes, Christ-King, Our Lady of Grace , and Immaculate Heart of Mary. In April 2019, he was assigned as Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Red Deer, where he currently serves.
Father Mirek is also the Dean of the Red Deer Deanery (a deanery is a region within a diocese), and serves as Secretary on the Executive of the Presbyteral Council (A presbyteral council is a group of priests chosen to assist their local bishop in an advisory capacity.)
Incardination specifies the relationship of clerics to the Church and the service which they render in it. Taken from the Latin term incardinare (to hang on a hinge) incardination is traditionally used to refer to the attachment of the priest or deacon to a diocesan Church headed by the diocesan bishop.
Please continue to pray for vocations to the Priesthood.
