    Since 1993, over 200,000 laypeople, clergy, and religious across the globe have embarked on the Called & Gifted™ Discernment Process to uncover how the Holy Spirit is uniquely at work in their lives.     St. Albert Parish will be hold a fall Bible study beginning on Monday 21 September (7 – 8pm in the parish hall) and will go on until the end of November. This Fall term, the study will focus on three Letters found in the New Testament: St Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews, and the First and Second Letters of St Peter. Dr. Saulnier, a member of St. Albert parish, will once again lead the study. He is a Professor of Sacred Scriptures at Newman Theological College here in Edmonton, where he has been teaching since 2007.

    Every year since 2019, the Star of the North has hosted our own mini Camino, a spiritual pilgrimage and fundraising walk. Participants walk a chosen route—either together or independently, for up to 5 km. The walk is intended to be more than simply a physical hike: it is an opportunity to slow down, pray, reflect, connect with nature, and be intentional about your spiritual journey.

  • Befriending the Unknown: The Challenges and Gifts of Times of Transition

    Moving through times of change and transition is challenging. Transitions create much uncertainty and move us into a liminal space of the unknown. While uncomfortable, this in-between time invites us into inner growth. It is a place where we meet the divine. This retreat will explore how befriending the unknown in times of transition can lead to transformation both societal and personal. Through prayer, scripture, small group sharing and teaching we will explore together both the challenges and gifts that times of transition bring. Debbie Doornbos, B.Th. - Debbie is a retreat leader, and spiritual director with extensive experience leading small groups, creating and facilitating retreats and leading group process. She especially enjoys working with people through life’s many transitions. Debbie’s work has included being the Canadian Director for Sacred Art of Living, Program Director at Providence Renewal Centre, and a variety of contract work. She is an outdoor enthusiast, a passion she shares with her husband. Her five grandchildren are among her greatest teachers. Margaret Clark, D. Min. - Margaret is a Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner within the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care/Association canadienne de soins spirituels (CASC/ACSS). Her diversified ministry involvements have included faith community leadership, hospital based chaplaincy and supervision, adult education, and spiritual direction. In each ministry context Margaret has encountered myriad experiences of transition. It is a topic of reflection and prayer that continues to deepen and grow. Margaret enjoys long walks, fibre arts, and sharing good food with good friends.

    The Archdiocese is hosting a half-day workshop for parishioners who'd like to bring Holy Communion to shut-ins at home, and the sick in our care centres and hospitals. The Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion Community Visitors workshop will be held at Good Shepherd Parish on Saturday, October 3, from 9 am – 12 noon. Please register by Friday September 18.

  • Life Chain

    Life Chain is a peaceful pro-life demonstration in its 35th year in Canada. The very first Life Chain was held in 1987 by a group called 'Please Let Me Live Inc.' in Yuba City, California. Participants pray for an end to abortion and for those wounded by it while holding non-graphic signs with messages like "Abortion Kills Children" and "Jesus Forgives & Heals." Specific times and locations of the 375+ Life Chains across our nation will be listed on our website (lifechain.ca) later this summer. On the day of the event, those participating in Life Chain will stand at various predetermined intersections for one hour in quiet prayer, holding non-graphic signs with slogans like: “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Adoption: A Loving Option, and “Jesus Forgives & Heals.” The signs are distributed and collected by a local organizer. This organizer will direct participants and liaise with any law enforcement, business owners, or media. Please contact your local organizer if you have any questions or concerns.
