What is Transitus?
It is a prayer liturgy where we gather in the evening for this ancient tradition which draws together all over the world Franciscans, followers and friends of St. Francis.
We mark his Transitus: the passage from his earthly life into everlasting life. This is not a night of mourning, rather of remembering and rejoicing in the life of this saint and life eternal.
October 3, 1226 is the day Francis of Assisi died. This Jubilee Year is marking 800 years of his Transitus.
