In “Looking to See”, we will spend time exploring the marvelous collection of visual art at the Star of the North, paying special attention to the artworks that draw us in. We will select a single image and spend focused time with it, moving through the various stages of visio divina. Once the visio is complete, we will shift to written reflections to more fully explore our experience. Finally, there will be an opportunity to share some of our discoveries with the group. LIFE WORTH LIVING is a ground breaking documentary that exposes the euthanasia crisis in Canada - described in the film as a dark stain on a nation that has taken over 90,000 lives since 2016. Friday, February 20, 7-9 pm St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 9850 148 St., Edmonton Presented by Edmonton Pro-life This film includes intriguing testimony from doctors and from those who have unjustly lost loved ones to Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Canada is currently planning to provide death to those with mental illness alone, putting suicidal and depressed individuals directly in the line of fire. This film exposes a vitally important story that must be told, and is one of hope and resilience. After the film, there will be a Q & A with Alex Schadenberg (executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition). We hope you can join us for this event! Please RSVP by February 18, by emailing info@edmontonprolife.org Link to trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YeMkLtgIts |

The Rite of Election, part of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), is a liturgical step where the Church formally ratifies catechumens to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at Easter. Usually held near the first Sunday of Lent, this rite signifies God's choice of these individuals, who then enroll their names as a pledge of fidelity. |

Lenten-Easter Journey with St. Ignatius of Loyola
Lent is a time to deepen our relationship with God and broaden our response to the needs of others. Join companions in this spiritual practice over eight weeks, beginning just after Ash Wednesday and concluding two weeks after Easter. Our resource will be Tim Muldoon’s The Ignatian Workout for Lent, in which he reminds us that “we don’t make ourselves spiritual people by working hard” but rather by “removing obstacles to God’s grace.” This intentional spiritual journey will include a daily scripture passage (gospel texts from the Passion and Easter stories), accompanied by a brief reflection, written prayer, and call to action (Monday-Friday). It will be supported by a bi-weekly facilitated group time of communal prayer and sharing online and an hour-long one-on-one spiritual direction session online on alternate weeks. Note: Participants are responsible for acquiring their own books. Facilitated by Faith Nostbakken and Carol Sebastian February 23 – April 18, 2026 4 biweekly group gatherings (via Zoom): Monday, Feb, 23, Mar. 9, 23, & Apr 6, 7:00-8:30 pm 4 biweekly spiritual direction sessions (via Zoom) as individually scheduled Space is limited, register early. |
