Events for May 16, 2026
National Family & Life Week
“I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20) Christ’s words at the time of his Ascension serve as this year’s theme for National Family and Life Week 2026, which begins on Sunday, May 10, and concludes on Sunday, May 17. Families, parishes and parish groups, ecclesial movements and associations, as well as Catholic schools, are encouraged to take time this week to celebrate their own families, express gratitude, offer forgiveness, or share meaningful moments with loved ones across generations. This week is an opportunity to uphold the value of life and to live out our calling to love one another within our homes, communities, and the world. May Christ’s enduring presence bring us consolation, hope and renewal, as we journey with him in prayer and through the Sacraments, in the knowledge that we are never truly alone. God is with us always “to the end of the age.” Additional Resources from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCWllROedhI
OLVC Camp Work Bee
Our first Work Bee of 2026 is coming up quickly! Join us at camp on Saturday, May 16th for a day of fellowship and service. If you have never been to one of our Work Bees before, these are days where we come together as a community at camp to make it beautiful, better, and safer for the campers that will be joining us in the summer months. All skill levels are welcome, and lunch will be provided! The Bee will run from 8:30 AM to about 4 PM. If you can't make it for the whole day you are absolutely welcome to come for whatever amount of time you can spare. Contact Cody at cody.parr@caedm.ca if you have any questions.
Treaty Talks In Honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Signing of Treaty Six
This time together invites us to understand the history and impact of treaties with First Nations peoples – not as distant events, but as agreements that continue to shape our lives today. Together, we examine our shared responsibility and consider practical steps toward truth and reconciliation. Harry Lafond is a leading Indigenous Education Scholar from the University of Saskatchewan's St. Thomas More College.
