Holy Cross Mausoleum expansion welcomes Catholic families

Edmonton Catholic Cemeteries is excited to share an important new development. In August 2026, ECC completed a significant expansion of Holy Cross Mausoleum, creating a beautiful new sacred space where Catholic families can honour, remember, and pray for their loved ones.

The expansion includes 87 crypts, providing 123 entombment spaces, as well as 398 niches in a variety of sizes for the inurnment of cremated remains. This new area was created in response to the families we serve, many of whom expressed a strong desire to once again have the option of mausoleum entombment for themselves and their loved ones.

More than simply adding burial space, this expansion continues the ministry of Holy Cross Cemetery by providing families with a dignified and prayerful place to lay their loved ones to rest within the Catholic tradition and in the hope of the Resurrection.

Archbishop Stephen Hero consecrated the new area, which will officially open for sales on August 21. In preparation for the opening, three information sessions were held for interested families, providing them with an opportunity to learn more about the expansion and place their names on the waiting list.

There has been a great deal of interest in the expansion, and we are excited to see this new part of Holy Cross Mausoleum begin serving Catholic families for many years to come.
