Youth Minister – Holy Trinity Parish

Holy Trinity Parish is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Youth Minister to support the spiritual growth and development of youth and young adults within the parish community.  This position will be Full-time, 35 hours per week.

Working under the direction of the Pastor, the Youth Minister is responsible for the development, coordination, and ongoing growth of youth and young adult ministry. The role provides opportunities for young people to encounter the Gospel, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, grow in their Catholic faith, and become actively engaged in the life of the parish and the broader Roman Catholic Church.

The Youth Minister will build meaningful relationships with youth, young adults, families, volunteers, schools, and parish leadership, while creating welcoming and engaging opportunities for faith formation, fellowship, service, worship, and participation in parish life.

Duties:

Senior High Youth Ministry

• Organize, administer, and coordinate “Life Teen” activities for senior high school students, including weekly Sunday evening social, catechetical, and issue-focused gatherings.
• Coordinate two annual retreats, a youth rally, and other special events and activities.
• Recruit, train, support, and form a Core Team of young adults to minister to high school students and assist with Sunday evening programming.
• Develop meaningful outreach opportunities for teens within the parish and at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic High School, including school visits, lunch and religion classes, sporting events, theatre productions, and other appropriate activities.

Junior High Youth Ministry

• Organize, administer, and coordinate activities for junior high students, including social, catechetical, and issue-focused gatherings, a youth rally, and other special events.
• Recruit, train, and form a core team of young adults and high school youth to support junior high ministry and lead activities.
• Develop meaningful outreach opportunities for youth within the parish and at St. Thomas Aquinas School and John Paul II School, including school visits, lunch and religion classes, sporting events, theatre productions, and other appropriate activities.

Faith Formation and Young Adult Ministry

• Organize “Exalt”, a monthly evening of Adoration and praise and worship to support the faith development of youth and young adults.
• Provide guidance and support for activities involving younger parishioners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, including team leader training, participation in events, and attendance, where possible, at annual weekend retreats.
• Liaise between younger parish groups and the parish office.
• Develop and support young adult ministry within the parish, including social gatherings, an annual “Theology on Tap” speaker series, and opportunities for young adults to deepen their faith.
• Oversee “World Youth Day” pilgrimages as opportunities arise.
• Provide opportunities for meaningful parent and family involvement in youth ministry.

Parish Collaboration and Administration

• Maintain open and regular communication with the Pastor and Parish Pastoral Council regarding short-term and long-term ministry planning and program needs.
• Prepare a semi-annual Ministry Report, annual ministry evaluation and vision for the coming year, and annual budget.
• Attend parish team meetings and parish pastoral committee meetings as required.
• Continue to develop knowledge and skills in current trends in youth ministry and related professional areas.
• Carry out other related responsibilities as required to support the ministry of the parish.

Qualifications

• Active Catholic faith life and abides by the teachings of Catholicism in his/her personal life.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Catholic Church teachings and youth ministry.
• Have the ability to plan and support liturgical and faith-based activities and lead public prayer.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• Have the ability to recruit, train, support, and work effectively with volunteers and youth leaders.
• Possess strong organizational, administrative, and program management skills.
• Demonstrate creativity and initiative in the design and development of youth and young adult programs.
• Have knowledge of appropriate referral resources and programs.
• Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to working with youth and young adults.
• Have knowledge of contemporary Catholic/Christian music and the ability to support music-related ministry activities.
• Be comfortable working with sound equipment and technology.
• Possess computer skills, including word processing.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use effective teaching and engagement techniques for adolescents.
