We have an opportunity for a part time position of minimum 18 hours per week for a Parish Pastoral Assistant at Holy Family Parish in St. Albert. This position has a varied schedule that will include some evening and weekend work.
Duties:
- Organize, coordinate, and lead children’s sacramental preparation programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
- Collaborate with the Pastor, parish staff, volunteers, parents, children, and local schools to plan and deliver effective sacramental preparation.
- Ensure all sacramental preparation programs meet established objectives and are carried out in a welcoming, faith-filled environment.
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and support volunteer catechists and team members involved in sacramental preparation.
- Communicate regularly with families, volunteers, and schools regarding program schedules, requirements, and events.
- Prepare and maintain program materials, records, and administrative documentation related to sacramental preparation.
- Provide reception and general administrative support as required, including responding to inquiries and assisting with parish office operations.
- Assist with parish pastoral initiatives and undertake additional pastoral responsibilities as experience and demonstrated competence allow.
- Work independently while contributing effectively as a collaborative member of the parish team.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, inclusivity, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the parish community.
Qualifications:
- Certificate in Catholic Studies or equivalent is required.
- Baccalaureate degree in Theology or Masters in Divinity is preferred.
- Training and/or experience in the delivery of parish programs such as RCIA, sacramental preparation, faith enrichment and pastoral care.
- Training and competency in conflict management and problem solving.
- Proficiency with records management software and Microsoft Office.
- Must be personable, service oriented, a good communicator – both verbally and written – and be able to build and maintain harmonious relationships with the pastor c-workers, volunteers, parishioners, school staff, parents, children, and visitors.
- Active Catholic faith life and abides by the teachings of Catholicism in his/her personal life.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Will require some evening and weekend work for events and meetings.
