On Monday, May 20, 2024, Father Gilles passed away at the age of 92 years.
He is survived by the members of his religious community, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate; his sister, Louise Desharnais, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Father Gilles was predeceased by his parents, Bella (nee Dupuis) and Paul Gauthier, and many siblings.
Father Gilles’ Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at St. Albert Catholic Church (7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert.) Interment will follow in the Oblate Plot at the adjoining St. Albert Catholic Cemetery.
