Website Our Lady of Victory Camp
Our Lady of Victory Camp is the official summer camp of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton, based on the shores of Gull Lake in Lacombe County, AB. We provide summer programming for young people across the province within the Catholic spiritual context. In the off-season we regularly provide a space for affiliated Catholic ministry groups to offer their own retreats and events.
The Role(s)
This job description is relevant to two distinct positions with overlapping responsibilities:
Spring Team
Work term: May 4th – July 5th
Positions available: 2
The Spring Team will assist the Camp Director and Program Coordinator in the spring season before summer programming begins. They will primarily staff retreats offered on the OLVC site for regional Catholic Schools. When not doing this they will support pre-summer promotional efforts in these same schools and in parish communities.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Assistance with small maintenance and cleaning tasks at OLVC
- Developing and delivering presentations for schools
- Administrative assistance as needed.
Core Team
Work term: July 8th – August 22nd
Positions available: 6
The Core Team will assist the Program Coordinator and the Shepherds with delivering programs during the camp summer. They will be responsible for ensuring the former are able to smoothly deliver a fun, safe, Christ-centered experience to our campers.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Some maintenance and cleaning projects
- Assisting with OLVC’s post-summer clean up.
- Undertaking training to be able to lead activity periods.
Expectations
These are full-time contract positions, paid a set stipend based upon how many weeks are worked. Successful candidates can expect to travel between their home community and the OLVC site regularly for the duration of their contract.
The applicant may apply for either position, or both depending on their availability. Successful candidates with sufficient availability may be offered both Spring and Core Team roles.
Qualifications and Assets
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of and respect for Catholic teaching. Specific experience working in Youth Ministry, especially in the context of summer camping, is an asset. Recent experience on the OLVC Team is strongly preferred.
- Standard First Aid/CPR-C
- Lifeguard certification is an asset.
- Musical ability (or a willingness to learn) is an asset
- Fluency in a second language (esp. French, Ukrainian, Tagalog, Tamil, etc.) is an asset.
- Exhibit attention to detail and organizational skills
- Be an effective verbal and written communicator
- Be a strong leader
- Be able to lift at least 10 kgs
- Have a reliable means of transportation
This temporary seasonal position will begin July 8th, and is expected to continue until August 22nd, 2026.
