We have an opportunity for an entry-level,  Part-Time (5 hours/week) Secretary/Receptionist at St. Emeric Catholic Church located at 12960 112 St NW, Edmonton, AB.

This position provides professional front desk services while supporting administrative functions within the Parish office. This role plays an important part in creating a hospitable and respectful environment that reflects the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Duties:

Front Desk & Visitor Services

  • Greet and assist visitors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Direct visitors to appropriate staff or departments
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming reception area for visitors and staff
  • Provide respectful and professional service to all visitors and callers

 Telephone & Communications

  • Answer and manage incoming calls through the main phone system
  • Route calls to appropriate staff and take accurate messages
  • Respond to general inquiries from clergy, parish staff, and the public
  • Coordinate between the parish, lease groups, contractors, and ministries.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with general clerical tasks, such as: filing, scanning, copying, and data entry
  • Support staff with scheduling appointments or meetings when required
  • Provide logistical support for meetings or events hosted at the Archdiocesan office.

Mail & Office Coordination

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and courier deliveries
  • Prepare outgoing mail and coordinate courier services
  • Monitor reception supplies and request replenishment as needed.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Office administration training or post-secondary education is an asset

Experience

  • 1–2 years of receptionist, administrative, or customer service experience preferred
  • Experience in a church, nonprofit, or community organization is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Archdiocese of Edmonton, including its mission, structure, and operations.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional and welcoming demeanor
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Openness to learning about Hungarian and Deaf culture
