Our Lady of Fatima Festivities – May 6-10
Our Lady of Fatima Parish 12311 55 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaThe Feast of Our Lady of Fatima is a deeply meaningful celebration for many Portuguese families in Edmonton, rooted in devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. It commemorates the reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. It is a day steeped in prayer, reflection, and devotion. For the Portuguese community, this feast is more than a religious observance, it is a way to preserve cultural identity, pass on traditions, and gather in faith and unity across generations. In Edmonton, the festivities bring together parishioners and visitors through Masses, processions, and social events such as the social feast. The candlelight rosary procession, in particular, is a powerful expression of faith and remembrance, symbolizing hope, prayer, and devotion. Beyond its spiritual importance, the celebration also highlights Portuguese heritage through food, music, and fellowship, strengthening community bonds and keeping cherished traditions alive far from their homeland.

This project will enable us to better serve and strengthen our community for generations to come. The Gala will bring together individuals, organizations, and community partners who share a commitment to service, faith, and positive community impact.
