A bold call to renewal for Catholic men is spreading across Western Canada—and it’s gaining momentum right here in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
In late November, Bishop William McGrattan of the Diocese of Calgary met with the board of God Squad Canada to share a powerful vision: make March a Month of Renewal for Men. That conversation has since sparked a nationwide movement, with Edmonton men stepping up in a big way.
March, dedicated to St. Joseph—the universal patron of the Church—is a fitting time for this mission. St. Joseph stands as a model of quiet strength, courageous fatherhood, obedience, and fidelity. In a culture that often confuses or diminishes authentic masculinity, his example calls men to heroic virtue rooted in Christ.

The Heroic 30 Challenge
At the heart of this movement is the Heroic 30 Challenge (H30)—a 30-day (plus one bonus day) spiritual journey through the virtues of St. Joseph: humility, diligence, chastity, prudence, courage, and more.
Led by Heroic Men Canada (powered by God Squad), executive director Sean Lynn quickly rallied Catholic leaders across Canada and beyond. The result? Thirty-one bishops, priests, deacons, and lay leaders offering short daily videos throughout March—each blending Scripture, practical encouragement, personal witness, and a clear call to action.
The goal is simple: practical, daily inspiration that helps men live their faith intentionally—at home, at work, and in their parishes.
Edmonton Men—Let’s Lead
There’s even a little friendly competition built in: diocese vs. diocese, Canada vs. the U.S. Calgary may have started strong—but Edmonton men are ready to answer the call.
Parishes across the Archdiocese of Edmonton are encouraged to promote the challenge in bulletins and men’s groups. Signing up is free and easy at heroicmen.org/h30 Participants receive daily emails with video links, reflection prompts, and prayer resources. Men are encouraged to sign up with a friend or small group for accountability.
