Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that love of God and love of neighbour are at the heart of the entire law.
This call to love is also at the very heart of the mission of Catholic Social Services, or CSS.
Today we celebrate the 6th annual CSS Sunday, a day to give thanks for this remarkable local Agency and the work it does to live out Christ’s call within our Archdiocese.

Catholic Social Services reaches out to our neighbours, many of whom we may never know or recognize: a woman and her child seeking refuge from abuse; a youth or senior calling out for help; a person with a developmental disability requiring continuous support; a refugee fleeing persecution or war in search of safety. Each day, more than 2,000 employees and 400 volunteers put Christ’s love into action by offering care, connection, and compassion.
Much of this vital work is made possible through the prayers and financial generosity of our greater Catholic community. This faithful support helps sustain the Agency’s mission and extends its reach to those who need it most.
As we mark this special Sunday, let us give thanks to the Lord for the gift of Catholic Social Services, for all those who serve its mission, and for their ongoing witness to Christ’s love in our communities.
