Edmonton Parishes welcome home Sister Catherine for Lenten Mission

The twinned parishes of Resurrection and Assumption in Edmonton welcomed nearly 300 faithful for a two-day parish mission held March 1 and 2, featuring members of the Queenship of Mary Sisters from Ontario.

Sister Philomena and Sister Catherine served as the main speakers for the mission, which focused on learning to trust in God and receive His healing through the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The event drew participants not only from the host parishes but also from across Edmonton and neighboring rural communities.

Sister Catherine received a particularly warm welcome from attendees. Originally from Edmonton, she shared that it was in her hometown where she first discerned her vocation to religious life, making her return especially meaningful for local parishioners.

Over the course of the weekend, participants took part in prayer, worship, teaching, and fellowship, creating what organizers described as a joyful and grace-filled experience.

Parish leaders encouraged the faithful to continue praying for Sister Catherine and the Queenship of Mary community as they carry on their ministry.

A Lenten Mission is a time of grace within the Church’s penitential season, offering the faithful a spiritual retreat to deepen conversion, embrace repentance, and grow closer to Christ through prayer, reflection, and the sacraments.

Parishioners are encouraged to consult the Archdiocesan calendar for information about upcoming Lenten Missions, guest speakers, and other events at their parish or nearby communities.

Organizers ask the faithful to keep Sister Catherine and the Queenship of Mary Sisters in their prayers as they continue their ministry.

Mother Mary, pray for us all.
