Nearly 300 catechumens enroll in this year’s Rite of Election

Nearly 300 catechumens from rural and urban parishes across our Archdiocese participated in this year’s Rite of Election – an increase from 265 last year!

Celebrated on the First Sunday of Lent, this rite marks an immediate preparation of the elect, enrolling the names of those preparing to receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation at the Easter Vigil.

It underscores Lent’s dual call: preparing catechumens, while inviting all the faithful to renew their baptismal promises.

We praise God for drawing these souls closer to Christ through the Holy Spirit’s guidance!
