On the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, we rejoice as Archbishop Stephen Hero received the pallium from Pope Leo at the Vatican, together with metropolitan archbishops from around the world. This joyful celebration marks an important milestone in his ministry as Archbishop of Edmonton.
Today also marks the 26th anniversary of Archbishop Hero’s ordination to the priesthood in 2000. We give thanks to God for his faithful priestly ministry and dedicated service to the Church.
The pallium, a woolen band worn by metropolitan archbishops, symbolizes the Good Shepherd, an archbishop’s pastoral mission, and communion with the Holy Father and the universal Church.
Also receiving the pallium were Most Rev. Susai Jesu, O.M.I., Archbishop of Keewatin–Le Pas, and Most Rev. Charles Duval, C.Ss.R., Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan. They were accompanied by Cardinal Thomas Collins of Archdiocese of Toronto.
Please keep Archbishop Hero, Archbishop Jesu, Archbishop Duval, and Cardinal Collins in your prayers
