Rev. Liju Jose marks a life of devoted service to the Church, guided by pastoral care, spiritual leadership, and a deep commitment to the communities he serves. Since July 5, 2023, he has been serving as Pastor of St. Augustine in Ponoka and St. Stephen in Lacombe, where he continues to provide compassionate guidance, sacramental ministry, and support to both parish communities. His current assignment reflects his ongoing mission to nurture vibrant faith, strengthen parish life, and walk alongside parishioners in their spiritual journeys.
Ordained on December 27, 2010, at Christ the King Cathedral in Kottayam, India, by Archbishop Mathew Mar Moolakkatt OSB for the Syro-Malabar Archeparchy of Kottayam, Rev. Jose has dedicated his priesthood to serving the faithful with generosity and humility. His pastoral journey has included multiple assignments, each shaping his ministry and deepening his commitment to the people entrusted to his care.
Born on November 24, 1984, in Kolanjerry, Kerala, India, Rev. Jose responded to God’s call with devotion and conviction. His previous assignments include serving as Pastor of St. Rose of Lima in Onoway, Our Lady of Lourdes in Lac La Nonne, and St. Joseph in Wabamun (July 2022 – July 2023); Pastor of Our Lady of Peace in Innisfail (August 2018 – July 2022); and Chaplain for hospitals and care facilities, including the Cross Cancer Institute (October 2016 – August 2018).
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Jose has guided parishioners with compassion, inspired the faithful, supported families, and encouraged spiritual growth. His leadership—rooted in faith, humility, and pastoral dedication—continues to enrich the communities he serves.
As he continues his priestly ministry, the people of St. Augustine, St. Stephen, and all the communities shaped by his service honor his steadfast commitment and the many ways he strengthens the life of the Church through pastoral care, guidance, and faithful witness.
