Most Rev. Stephen Andrew Hero
8th Metropolitan Archbishop of Edmonton
The Most Reverend Stephen A. Hero was appointed as our Archbishop by Pope Leo XIV on November 21, 2025, and was installed on January 23, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Basilica, the seat of this Archdiocese.
Formerly the Bishop of Prince Albert (2021–2025), he is a former rector of St. Joseph Seminary, known for his dedication to pastoral care, liturgical theology, and priestly formation.
His episcopal motto is Deus Solus (God Alone), drawn from Psalms 86:10: “For you are great and do wondrous things; you are God alone.” It expresses the conviction that God must be at the center of every Christian life.
