Archdiocesan
Prayer to St. Joseph the Worker
Great St. Joseph,
the Creator of the universe entrusted his Only-Begotten Son, Jesus Christ,
and the Virgin Mary, the Mother of his Son,
to your loving care and watchful protection.
Your humble labour in the workshop of Nazareth,
reflected the creative work of the God the Father
and his provident guidance of all things.
Intercede now for God’s Church,
the Body of Christ, and in particular,
for the Church in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
May we hear the word of God in faith,
respond with hopeful hearts to God’s plan for us,
and work and pray in loving communion.
Help us to make our homes into a new Nazareth,
the Church into a Holy Family,
and the world into a workshop of justice and peace for the glory of God, the Father almighty,
and his only Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
forever and ever.
Amen.
Nothing More Beautiful
Heavenly Father,
we come before you in praise and thanksgiving
for you have called us to be your own.
You sent your Word
to bring us truth
and your Spirit to make us holy.
Through them we come to know
the Beauty that is You.
Draw us to a new encounter with Jesus, your Son.
Deepen our love for His Church.
Help us to embrace anew
the beauty of our faith in all of its richness.
Empower us to see there is nothing more beautiful
than our relationship with You,
so that we may reflect to others your image,
in which we have been created.
We pray that, rooted and grounded in your love,
and through the healing power of the Cross of your Son,
we may be strengthened for mission
by your Holy Spirit.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Vocations
Heavenly Father, bless your Church in the Archdiocese of Edmonton with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, religious, and seminarians.
Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world, the special graces that their lives require.
Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him, and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere.
With the virgin mother Mary we ask this through Christ your Son.
Amen.
Universal
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen

asasign of salvation and of hope.
Weentrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who,at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain
whileremaining steadfast in faith.
O loving Mother,
you know what we need,
and we are confident you will provide for us
as at Cana in Galilee.
Intercede for us with your Son Jesus,

and for those who are tending to the sick
and seeking a cure.
Help us, O Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who took upon himself our
sufferings and carried our sorrows,
so as to lead us, through the Cross,
to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen.
Under thy protection we seek refuge,
O Holy Mother of God.
In our needs, despise not our petitions,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe
Patroness of the New Evangelization
Mary, Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of all America, help us to be faithful stewards of the great mysteries of God.
Help us to teach the truth your Son proclaimed and to spread love, which is the first commandment and first fruit of the Holy Spirit. Help us to confirm our brothers and sisters in the faith. Help us to spread hope in eternal life. Help us to guard the great spiritual treasures of the members of God’s people who are entrusted to us.
Queen of the Apostles! Accept our willingness to serve unreservedly the cause of your Son, the cause of the Gospel and of peace, based on justice and love among individuals and between peoples.
Queen of Peace! Save the nations and peoples of the whole continent who trust in you; save them from war, hatred and subversion.
May all, governors and the governed, learn to live in peace; may they be educated for peace, and undertake everything required by justice and respect for the rights of each person, so that peace may be strengthened.
Listen to us, “morenita” Virgin, Mother of Hope, Mother of Guadalupe!
Amen.

Stewardship Prayer
Almighty God I give thanks for all that I have and all that I am.
Most of all I give thanks for the great gift of your Son, Jesus.
I pray that I may be a good steward – that I will follow faithfully, serve joyfully,
give generously, live responsibly and possess sensibly.
In gratitude for the abundant gifts you have so graciously given to me;
I return to you the first fruits of these gifts, through acts of service and by
generously sharing all that you have entrusted to me.
Heavenly Father, by your Holy Spirit –
Give me knowledge and understanding, help me to be a gift to others in your name.
I make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Reverence for Life
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.
Amen
