The Archdiocese of Edmonton will soon joyfully welcome a new priest. Deacon Robert Lee will be ordained to the priesthood at St Joseph Basilica in Edmonton, on Thursday, June 28. Archbishop Richard Smith will preside at the Mass of Ordination, which begins at 7 p.m.

Deacon Robert grew up in Spruce Grove and entered St. Joseph Seminary shortly after graduating from high school. He was ordained to the transitional diaconate on June 16, 2017, and is currently assisting at St. Thomas More Parish in Edmonton.

He admits his seven-year journey to priesthood has not always been easy, but he credits the supportive community at St. Joseph Seminary for standing with him all along.

“There was a point where I really thought that God was calling me away from the seminary,” he said in an interview last year. “When I told a few people that, they banded together and wrote me letters and had conversations and spoke with me about their discernment of my vocation.

“It was out of this community that I revisited the question in my prayer, and a great peace came over me, a great peace and joy. And really from that fourth year on, I moved with confidence in the Lord's calling for me, ever trying to discipline myself, ever trying to grow in His ways.”

Please keep Deacon Robert in your prayers as he prepares for ordination.
