Advent is a time of spiritual preparation and reflection amid the usual rush that precedes Christmas. Why not take time out for an evening of beautiful music, prayer and learning about our precious Catholic faith? The second encounter in this year’s Nothing More Beautiful series focuses on Scripture, with catechesis by Bishop Murray Chatlain of Mackenzie-Fort Smith and a personal witness by Sister Eileen Schuller, an Edmonton-born Scripture scholar and internationally recognized expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Come celebrate “The Splendour of God’s Word” on Friday, December 9, 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Basilica.  American Sign Language translation is offered, and a children’s program is available for ages 3-9.
