Guidelines for Liturgical Music

The "revised" Guidelines for Liturgical Music are now available under the NCLS/NCLM on the National Liturgy Office website. Click here.  Specific sections will be updated as the Rituals are updated.

In this resource, the Episcopal Commission for Liturgy and the Sacraments, assisted by the National Liturgy Office, aim to provide guidelines, which were approved by the Bishops of the English Sector of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. These guidelines may help the Church in Canada sing praises to the Lord when celebrating liturgies and to use musical styles, melodies, and musical instruments appropriate for the Church's public prayer: Episcopal Commission for Liturgy and the Sacraments

Scheduling Easter Vigils

According to the sacramentary, "nightfall" is the earliest acceptable time to begin the celebration of the Easter Vigil. Taking daylight saving time into account, this will occur in the Archdiocese of Edmonton at 10:06 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Easter Vigil celebrations should ideally start no earlier than 9:30 p.m. MDT. Download a PDF chart of Easter Vigil start times through 2020.
