Congratulations to Bishop Bouchard

We offer our congratulations to Bishop Luc Bouchard of the Diocese of St. Paul on his appointment Bishop of Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Bishop Bouchard has many friends across Alberta, and we pray that he enjoys the abundant graces of Our Lord as he begins his new mission.

Bishop Bouchard, a native of Cornwall, Ontario, was ordained to the priesthood in 1976 and was serving as Rector of St. Joseph Seminary in Edmonton when he was named Bishop of St. Paul on September 8, 2001.  He has also assisted the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a member of its Permanent Council and served on a number of its commissions, and is currently a member of the CCCB Commission for Doctrine. 

Bishop Bouchard's new diocese has 67 parishes and missions, with a Catholic population of 232,985, served by 93 diocesan priests, 67 priests who are members of religious communities, 469 Religious Sisters and Brothers, 31 permanent deacons and 45 lay pastoral assistants.
