Archivist Sr. Cecile Dupuis passes

Sr. Cecile Dupuis

Sister Cécile Dupuis FJ, the first full-time Archivist for the Archdiocese of Edmonton, passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 94.

Sister Cécile served as Archivist from 1981 until 2000. During that time, she created the first indexes to the historic records of the Archdiocese, compiled the first histories of the bishops, parishes, priests and women religious – histories that are still referenced by Archives staff today. Nearly every file prior to 1960 in the Archives contains one of Sister Cécile’s handwritten notes detailing its contents. While she may be gone, her legacy lives on in the Archives.

Mass of Christian burial will take place at Saint-Thomas d’Aquin Church, 8410-89 Street, Edmonton, on Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy and assurance of prayers to her religious congregation, les Filles de Jésus, her family and friends.  May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
